Implement from diagnosis date:
Agreed by: UKACR EC
Date agreed by: 09/05/2003
Confirmed by C&CG: 16/07/2003
Present description: A query was received about the situation where two notifications were received for the same individual:
1. Adeno ca in situ prostate incidence date 15.5.01
2. Adeno ca prostate incidence date 5.9.2001
The C&CG was asked to advise whether one or two registrations should be made: whether both events would be classed as being the same treatment episode? This is particularly relevant to electronic notifications.
For this query, the C&CG advises that the UKACR multiple tumour rules should be followed, i.e. the two tumours have different behaviour codes so that two registrations should be made.
The C&CG acknowledges the difficulty cases like these may create for registries receiving data electronically. However, registries should have a facility of flagging these difficult cases and going back to the case notes to obtain more information, then making an informed decision based on the best information.
