Contralateral breast cancer would normally require a second registration to be recorded. However, a second registration should NOT be made in the presence of disseminated disease (i.e. distant metastases) and a contralateral earlier primary of the same morphology. WHEREAS, if the pathology report explicitly states that the second tumour is arising locally then a new primary must be registered.
