Bronchiolo-alveolar carcinoma (BAC) is considerably less aggressive than other types of lung cancer, and the lack of vascular stromal and pleural invasion is often described. Despite this, it is still classed as an invasive tumour and coded to M82503.
Pure Bronchiolo-alveolar carcinoma is coded to M82503.

If the BAC is mixed with another type of tumour aggressiveness will be increased and the tumour should be coded to M82553 – adenocarcinoma with mixed subtypes. eg. Adenocarcinoma acinar type with peripheral bronchiolo-alveolar pattern should be coded to M82553.
